A View from the Bench – 6th Feb ‘10
February 6th, 2010Good afternoon and welcome to today’s game, I hope you will see a competitive match between two sides both looking to play good football and progress up the table.
Since the recent long break due to the atrocious weather we have only played 2 games, in which we produced 2 good performances, firstly drawing 1-1 with Selsey with Scott Tipper on target and then beating a much improved Three Bridges side 3-2 with goals from Josh Biggs, Russ Hardwell and Howard Neighbour.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bob and his ground staff for all of their hard work in preparing the pitch for both recent games against all the odds when many other local games were postponed.
We would like to welcome back to the club last season’s top scorer Gary Norgate after deciding to leave Bognor Regis Town. Gary’s return has come at a great time giving the club and players a huge lift and we are sure it won’t be long before Gary is finding the back of the net as frequently as last season.
In other recent transfer news we have signed on Tony Stephen and Paul Barners from Midhurst and Easebourne, while Scott Dormer has moved onto Selsey and long serving midfielder Jason Wimbleton has joined Division 2 outfit Rustington in search of more regular first team opportunities.
We also welcome back to the club in a coaching role the evergreen and experienced Brett ‘Charlie’ Torode after recently leaving Wick. ‘Charlie’ will be taking over from Jon Perry who have had to stand down due to work commitments abroad and we all wish him well.
Hopefully you will now see an even fitter Arundel side on the pitch as we have managed to secure an indoor training facility each week to ensure our fitness levels don’t diminish.
We currently have both Phil Archibald and Matt Axell suspended, but will be hoping Tom Pickford and Josh Biggs are both off the treatment table and fit to play this afternoon after taking knocks last Saturday against Three Bridges.
